How to Read and Choose RV Trailer Tires
When that it comes to RV, the tires are the element most crucial to the system whole RV. The tires that you put on your RV must be chosen correctly and must be configured correctly so that the weight of your RV is sustained.
The that follows 5 steps will go through how to read your tires so that you can choose the best for your RV:
1. ST tire that Code
RVs tow the capable trailers has special tires designated for them. They are called the Special Trailer (ST) tires and will have a ST on the tirecode that is localized on the sidewall, close to a set of other numbers. The ST tires is constructed with the RV trailers in mind. The sidewalls is a lot more rigid than regular tires and they are big for your trailer when to stick and to push. Still look for the ST code for your RV.
2. Load Range
Fullies load your RV trailer and weigh it. If you cannot load your RV unit completely and can weigh it, use the evaluation of the Weight of the Big Vehicle (GVWR) of your trailer, find on the sticker of the specifications of the weight. It is important to load your vehicle completely, the maximal weight to that it will travel when you leave it. It will help us to determine the capacity of the weight that every tire must handle that will help us to choose the good one.
3. to Determine the Load Range
With simple math us can solve the range of the load for every tire. Take the total weight of your trailer and divide by the number of tires that will support your trailer (the configurations of the tire duplicates will count like 1 tire). Another way of thinking about this count the axles rather that the tires. 1 axle will divide the total weight by 2 and 2 axles will divide the total weight by 4. For example, you have a 4 tire 2 configuration of the axle for your trailer. Your total weight of the RV is 8000lbs. 8000/4 = 2000. 2000lbs are the range of the load you require for every tire.
4. Load of the Tire Consults Charts
Look in top a picture of the load of the tire to see what dimension tires and pressure of the inflation that you will require. You can find one to the Goodyear RV website.
5. Tire Dates
Now that you know what tire how to choose, drive to the store of the tire and select the good tires for your RV trailer. When to look at the tires, you choose the tires that have been manufactured a few months ago, so that you chose the better and newer available tires. To make this, look at the 4 numbers the number that follows the POINT letters of the c code. to-d. PDHH POINT” MLOR 3403.”The first 2 numbers of the code of the date represent the week that it has been made. The last two numbers represent the year. Therefore in our example, the tire has been made on the 34th week of 2003. Still choose the newest available.
